CARD is Growing!!!
Due to the tireless efforts of our Montana Federal delegation, CARD was given an appropriations award of $188,100.00 specifically to expand our clinic. This funding is critical to develop the space needed to better meet the needs of current and future patients, as well as to expand outreach and research activities that will ultimately lead to new treatments and/or cures for asbestos related diseases.
The 3072 sq. ft addition to CARD's existing facility will allow for increased patient capacity as well as greater outreach and research opportunities. Currently, CARD is unable to accomplish all of the proposed research activities because of the shortage of space; the expansion will not only mean a more comfortable and accessible environment for patients, but also more opportunity for important research. We will be adding four new patient rooms, one new Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) room, a space for a six-minute walk breathing test, and a new area for housing CARD's high-tech storage facilities for lab samples and specimens.
There is a hitch, though... In order to finish the project, CARD needs to raise an additional $100,00.00. The CARD Foundation has kicked off a Capital Campaign to raise the necessary funds. Pledge forms are available at CARD or online at www.libbyasbestos.org.
